With this project I have been researching in what it takes to be an concept artists.
I looked on websites like Chrisoatley.com,
this website basic summed up what I need to be like, what skills I need and
what I need for the job. When looking at this website it provided great insight
but it told me that I need experience before getting this job, so
because I need to create my own game concept which I could do but I would
need to practice my digital skills. I also went and looked at website that
help me design my portfolio which was called tenpages&draw.com. This
website because summed up that I need to create a portfolio that links to
what I wanted to do as a career but to also included stuff that ranges my
artistic skills.
With this information I went I little bit further
and contracted ten concept companies around the UK for work
experience. (pictures of emails below). After sending these
email off, I only got a reply from two companies which were Rebellion
(Oxford) and the other Studio Gobo. But with these companies
they wanted me to do an internship which at the moment is not what I
am after. But something that I would think of doing in the future. But
generally at the moment I want to get into comic design because I like
creating comics to show movement and have enjoyed these last projects in
which we created are own stories and illustrating them like comics. But I could
still generally go into concept design because of comic book design still
includes character and environment design.
Here are also my attempts of trying to gain
work experience with the Concept art industry
Here are some of the companies’ responses
With the responses I mostly got that they were offering internships
or had no available places. But with the internship idea it might be something
to consider when finishing University or further on.
With getting artists interviews I emailed them. here is the
emails:

Here is the script that I created in advance for when email
the companies and artists:
