This was a session when we were present what the third years did as promotional products and I had to decide which promotional ideas I would possible use when it comes to creating my own. Here are the ones that I thought were ideal.
Item one of promoting materials
This product was created by Kane Valentine, the idea for
this product was very tactile because it an item that everyone use every day
which is a pen. What she has done is, she got a company to print her name and
email onto a pen. The pen design she has gone for is very formal, so it gives
across the idea that she took effort into designing her promotional item. The
colour of the pen is black and the ink that she has for gone for is silver, so
when look at the pen it would be the first thing you would notice because of
the ink colour. The way that she
probably had this product was mostly likely a printing company. This promotional product is a pen which is
something everyone would need at least once. I think with this idea I would
like to use the pen idea but I would want to advance it more by adding my own
pattern to the pen because then it would be one of a kind and it would be more
eye catching, counting on the design I go for.
Pen with contact details
This is also another idea by Kane Valentine which was using
a QR code on her artist products, this is great idea to get your name out there
because you could provide this code instead of business card because it would
take you straight to artist website by scanning the QR code with the customers
smart phone, which most people have nowadays. The other good thing about this
promotional product is that it can be made into a small size, as long as clear
for the phone to read. The way that she had this one printed is by using a QR
code generator, she may used this website:
http://www.qrstuff.com/. When it
came to putting it on her products, she most likely used a printer and mass
printed these and then sticking them on. With this idea I would most likely
uses it because it would be an easy way for customers to access my website and
to also contract me. But even with this idea I would still like to provide
business cards just in case the QR code falls off and some people are not
adjusted to today’s technology.
QR code
The next idea for a promotional item was produced by Hannah
Beth Evans, who used the sweets love hearts and rewrapped them with her label.
This is a good way of catching someone attention because of the bright wrapping
paper of the love hearts. It would also be nice to give this to someone when
they buy your artwork to say as thank you because it a free thing which
everyone loves. They would also not want to open it up because of the time and
effort given into wrapping it. The idea of using a black and white label was a
brilliant idea because it does stand out but it is also not outstand by the
bright colour of the love hearts. The
label is also so nice and crispy to read.
With the way this label was made
I would say it was made digital because then it can be mass produced quickly
and the way the text has been used it is too formal and neat to be handmade. I
would like to apply this to my own practice because then I could give something
besides a business card but it is also memorable because of what it is and how
unusual it is.
Love hearts with contact details
The business card is always the way to go when promoting
yourself but the thing to do is to make it interesting, such as Anna Coffey did
with her design. She decided to go for a double sided business card which is a
good way to go because then you could have one side being an illustration with
the other is the information to contract you.
The way that Anna Coffey has designed hers is by making it into a
Custard Cream biscuit which is a clever idea because she has made into a cream
colour which bold and vibrate which makes it stick out but also she designed
into her own design. It was not a replication of the Custard Cream but in her
own style. It was also nice how clearly the card print came up and showed her
line work on the biscuit. On the other side of the card was her information
which was nice to see that she continued the theme of using her own line work
in creation her name and little quote, to personalize the business card and she
has include the contract information at the bottom. The way that she has made the business card
is the illustration and personalized font is created with ink. It is then
scanned in and then with the image she then sent it to a printing company to
produce it. The one that she has mostly like gone for is moo.com which is a
business card website. With this product I have already created my own business
card, but my goal for next time I want to create a range of business card
designs.
Custard Cream business card
The final promotional product that I want to take about is
Amy Musgrave artist prints. With her artist prints she added the idea to
include her name at the bottom of them. She has done them in a typewriter
format and has done them mostly like on photoshop because of her illustration
being digital. With this font it makes it stick out and it works with the white
background. With the prints she may have got them print with a company or
printed them with a printer. With this idea I want to apply with this idea but
I want to add my website instead of my name to the prints but with this idea I
would have to experiment to find the one that I want to use.
